No Country For Old Men :)

I have watched and analyzed the film 'No country For Old Men'.
The opener gives you an idea of what the film will be about and who will be the main character
During the opener we see that there are many shots being used, the main shots used at the beginning are Extreme Long shots.
We then see the first two characters, the shots being used are Mid-shots which only shows half of there body. Mise-en-scene is then being used we see a character wearing all black with his hair puilled back and a big black coat this shows darkness and evil.
We then see a police wearing bright colours which shows innocence. Tension builds when a character strangles another character to death.
He then takes a breath of relief this shows us that he needed to do that to feel better. He then kills another characer this shows us that the character likes killing people since he knows that he's goin to hell.

Thriller.. What Does THRILLER actually mean?...

Thriller....

Depicting crime, mystery, or espionage in an atmosphere of excitement and suspense

This is a suspenseful and sensational story or film

Usually consisted of numerous action scenes and fast paced plots

The brightest examples of thrillers are the Hitchcock’s movies.
Thrillers are mostly characterised by an atmosphere of menaceviolencecrime and murder by showing society as dark, corrupt and dangerous, though they often feature a happy ending in which the villains are killed or arrested.
Thrillers heavily promote on literary devices such as plot twistsred herrings and cliffhangers
They also promote on moods, such as a high level of anticipationadrenaline rusharousal, ultra-heightened expectationuncertaintyanxiety and sometimes even terror
The tones in thrillers are usually gritty, slick and lurid.

No country for old men - Motel Shootout

Aspects of the Thriller: Hitchcock

A Maguffin is a plot device that motivates the characters and advances the story,
but has little other relevance to the story.

A MacGuffin (sometimes McGuffin or maguffin)

catches the viewers' attention or drives the plot of a work of fiction.

The MacGuffin is common in films, especially thrillers.

Commonly, though not always, the MacGuffin is the central focus of the film in

the first act, and then declines in importance as the struggles and motivations of characters play out.

It may come back into play at the climax of the story, but sometimes the

MacGuffin is actually forgotten by the end of the film.

Hitchcock was also fund of an

'ENIGMAS'

An Engima refers to a puzzle, something mysterious or inexplicable.
Or a riddle or a difficult problem.

In thrillers, this is commonly something which the protagonist has to try and find out or solve before the narrative is resolved and the film finishes.

Red Herrings

A Red Herring is the name given to a device which intends to divert the audience from the truth or an

item of significance.

This can also with other devices such as (engimas) to create suspense.

Research About the One and Only Alfred Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock was the master of suspense whose films came to be the benchmark for
'Psychological Thrillers'

Alfred Hitchcock was an english film maker and also as a producer.

Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most famous film directors of all time. He, himself was as mysterious as the plots of his movies

Hitchcock always used to say..

"The only way to get rid of my fears is to make films about them"

"Always like to make the audience suffer as much as possible" :(

He pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. After a successful career in his native United Kingdom in both silent films and early talkies, Hitchcock moved to Hollywood.

He acknowledged master of the thriller genre he virtually invented, Alfred Hitchcock was also a brilliant technician who deftly blended sex, suspense and humor.

My name is Theresa Onyemah

I am going to produce and create the opening sequence of a thriller.
The film will be approximately 2 minutes :)
I will be working in groups of 2 and 4 people
I will not necessarily use people that are in my media class.
I will use some of my friends :)
And I definitely will be in the film though i will be producing it.

I will be assessed on my technical competence or example using a variety of shots, locations, sounds, and genre conventions.

I am looking forward to getting started!!

Hope you enjoy my Blog
